PORSCHE SPORT NEWS | Mateo Llarena, who recently became the youngest driver to participate and score points in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup’s history, is set to compete this weekend at his hometown circuit on-board a Porsche 911 GT3 (996) 3.8 RSR prepared by his Porsche Customer Racing Team supported by Gulf Oil in the second round of the GT Challenge de las Americas.
Mateo is currently third in the GTS class, racing against very experienced central American drivers using various brands such as Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 LMs and Chevrolet Corvette among others.
Llarena currently ranks third in the GTS category points table. A contingent of pilots from countries such as Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico are all expected to be competing in this weekend’s race.
High-caliber drivers such as Milo Valverde, Carlos Zaid, among other possible champions are also expected to be competing.
The race will take place during the weekend of November 6th and 7th. The event will be behind closed doors and without access to the public as a prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
Pilots and mechanics will have to follow strict health measures such as mandatory use of masks and practice physical social distancing throughout the event.
